Meet Keenan: The Innovator Behind
Sakana Baits
Keenan started making baits with a simple goal: to create the perfect tools for catching fish in local waters—something he couldn’t find anywhere else. Today, as the driving force behind Sakana Baits, he’s built a reputation for innovation and quality that anglers trust.
Unique Craftsmanship:
Keenan designs and produces his own molds, ensuring every bait is truly one of a kind. His proprietary glow techniques make his baits shine brighter and longer, giving anglers an unbeatable edge on the water.
Built to Catch More Fish:
For Keenan, it’s all about results. His ice baits are crafted to work seamlessly with the same jig head, combining convenience with effectiveness. In fact, his jig heads are so popular they often sell out!
A Passion for the Next Generation:
Keenan’s love for fishing extends beyond making baits—he’s passionate about inspiring young anglers. When 10-year-old James visited his shop, Keenan made sure James left with baits that were just right for him. “Kids are the future of fishing,” he says, and he’s committed to keeping the sport alive for generations to come.
Whether you’re chasing trophies or just enjoying time on the water, Keenan’s mission is simple: to help you catch more fish and make every cast count.

Meet Miff: The creative force behind
Miff's Custom Tackle
For Miff Bishop, bait making started as a childhood dream and grew into a lifelong passion. Growing up in Magna, Utah, Miff was inspired by a fishing show special about Southern Plastics. Fascinated by the idea of creating baits, she began making “mud worms” out of clay in her backyard, using food coloring to give them life. While her creations often fell off the hook, one special day changed everything.
Fishing with her brother at the Riter Canal, the two hooked a fish at the same time—tangling their lines in the process. After sorting out the mess, Miff discovered she had caught the fish using one of her homemade mud worms! That moment hooked her on both fishing and the idea of creating baits that really work.
Years later, Miff saw another Southern Plastics video and realized she could start making baits with just a hand injector. Six years ago, she turned her dream into reality, launchingMiff’s Custom Tackle.
A Creative Approach to Bait Making: Miff loves the artistry of crafting baits, especially drop shot worms, where she gets to blend colors tailored to the waters she fishes. She also brings that creativity to the next generation with her unique bait-making kits for kids. These kits let kids color and customize their own baits, making fishing an exciting and imaginative experience. “You just have to be creative and let them have fun,” she says.
Favorite Fishing Spot: For Miff, Lake Powell is paradise. She loves the warm sun and the thrill of catching smallmouth and largemouth bass on baits she’s crafted herself.
Advice for Families and Young Anglers: As someone who’s loved fishing since childhood, Miff encourages parents to make fishing fun for their kids. “Let them play, build sandcastles, or look for bugs,” she says. “If they enjoy themselves, they’ll come back to fishing for a lifetime.” Her bait-making kits are a perfect way for families to create those special memories together.
More Than a Business: For Miff, bait making isn’t just about catching fish—it’s about sharing her passion and building connections. Whether designing the perfect lure, chatting with anglers, or inspiring kids to fish, Miff’s enthusiasm is infectious. For her It’s all about creating relationships and enjoying time chasing fish.
